Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and [COMPANY_NAME NOT SET] ("we", "us") when you buy or play a Tavern Escapes room at https://tavernescapes.com. By buying or playing, you accept them.

What you are buying

You are buying access to play an online escape room — not the room itself. Access is personal to you and to the crew you invite to a session.

Depending on what you bought:

• A single room — that room, for as long as we run it.
• The Keyring — a set number of rooms of your choosing, for as long as we run them.
• The Full Vault — every room, including new releases, for as long as your yearly subscription is active.

Your account

You need an account to play, and it is created after payment. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Access codes are emailed so that only the people you invite can join a session. Sharing a code with people outside your crew is not what it is for, and we may close sessions being used to give away access.

What you may not do

• Copy, record, rip, republish or resell any part of a room.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile or extract the puzzles or their answers.
• Publish walkthroughs, answer keys or recordings that give away solutions.
• Use bots, scripts or automated tools against the site.
• Try to reach rooms you have not paid for.

Doing any of these may lose you access without a refund, and the more serious ones may break copyright law as well.

Playing together

Rooms are built for a stated number of players. You may invite that many people to a session, and they do not need their own accounts. You remain responsible for what they do.

Streaming and video

You may stream or record yourself playing for personal, non-commercial use — we like it. You may not publish anything that walks viewers through the solutions, and you may not charge for access to that recording. If you want to use a room commercially, ask us first.

Availability

We aim to keep the site up, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. We may take rooms down for maintenance, and occasionally retire one. If we retire a room you have paid for and you have not played it, we will refund you or swap it for another.

Price and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payment is taken by Stripe at the time you buy. We may change prices, but never for something you have already paid for.

Refunds

Set out in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Our liability

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Otherwise, we are liable only for loss that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. We are not liable for your internet connection, your device, or your crew.

You are a consumer, and nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Content warnings

Some rooms contain themes, sounds or images that some people find unsettling. Each room lists its warnings and its age guidance; please read them. Rooms are not intended for children under 13.

Ending this agreement

You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@tavernescapes.com; you will lose access to what you have bought.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, and will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email you. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own country.
