Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can play?
Every room lists its crew size — most work for 2 to 6. One person buys the room and hosts a session; everyone else joins with an emailed access code and does not need an account.
Do I need to book a time?
No. There is no schedule and no queue. Buy a room and it opens straight away, at whatever hour suits you.
What do I need to play?
A modern browser, a reasonable internet connection, and a way to talk to your crew if you are not in the same place. Anything on speakerphone works; so does a video call.
Can we play from different places?
Yes — that is what it is built for. Everyone opens the same room in their own browser and you talk to each other however you like.
How long does a room take?
Around 60 minutes, though it depends entirely on your crew. There is no hard limit, and nothing shuts off mid-game.
Can I replay a room?
As many times as you like, with as many different crews as you can gather. Once a room is yours it stays yours.
What if we get stuck?
Rooms with a hint system will offer you one when you need it. Nobody is watching you fail.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Most rooms do, and each one says so on its page. A bigger screen is more comfortable for the puzzles that involve reading closely.
Can I buy a room as a present?
Yes. Full Vault members can gift a room outright, and anyone can pass on a room they own to someone else — they get it, you no longer do.
Something went wrong. Can I get a refund?
If a room is broken or you cannot play, yes. Our Refund Policy sets out the detail.
